1) WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP STOP WAR ON IRAN
Everyone who took part in our last Don't Attack Iran day of action found
widespread feeling that an attack on Iran would be a disaster. SEE REPORTS:
http://bit.ly/zkPecb
Everyone can play a part in helping to build the campaign to stop our
government taking us into yet another war in the Middle East region.
* GET INVOLVED
In the coming weeks there are protests, events and public meetings against an
attack on Iran taking place up and down the country - from a demonstration in
Bishops Castle in Shropshire to a die-in at Queen Mary University in East
London. In many places there are stalls and street meetings.
For a list of upcoming Don't Attack Iran events and future updates, go to:

If there is nothing planned yet in your area, contact the Stop the War national
office and we can put you in touch with a local group or with Stop the War
supporters where you live. If you would like to organise a Don't Attack Iran
event locally, contact us for advice and support:

* LOBBY YOUR MP
Many Stop the War groups and individuals are taking the argument against war to
their MPs. We should be urging MPs to put their names to an Early Day Motion
called Dialogue with Iran already backed by nineteen members of parliament. The
motion states:
"This House is deeply concerned at the prospect of war with Iran; is appalled
at the naval military build-up in the Persian Gulf and the danger that this may
spark a conflict with enormous consequences and loss of life; calls for renewed
dialogue with Iran, an end to overt and covert military threats and support for
a nuclear-free Middle East as called for by the 2010 Non-Proliferation Treaty
Review Conference; and welcomes the Stop the War demonstration outside the US
Embassy on 28 January 2012 as an opportunity for ordinary people to express
their thirst for peace."
* COME TO THE STOP THE WAR NATIONAL CONFERENCE
On Saturday March 3, activists from all over the country will be gathering in
London for the annual Stop the War conference which will be discussing the
crisis over Iran, the danger of an attack on Syria, and the continuing
catastrophe in Afghanistan. The Conference will be the launch pad for the next
phase of our campaign. Discussion will be introduced by a wide range of
speakers including Tony Benn, Seumas Milne, Mitra Qayoom, Lindsey German, Abbas
Edalat, George Galloway and many more.
The conference is open to all members of Stop the War as well as delegates from
local groups and affiliated organisations and you can join on the door. Entry
is £5/3 concessions. Advanced booking is recommended as space is limited.

5) HANDS OFF SOMALIA
David Cameron is hosting a conference in London this Thursday 23 February, to
discuss the future of Somalia. There are media reports saying that Britain is
considering imminent military intervention in the country. There will be a
protest organised by Hands Off Somalia from 8.30 AM outside Lancaster House in
London, calling for a stop to British plans to carve up an already divided and
impoverished Somalia.
Stop the War is supporting the protest. Bring your banners, chants, drums,
megaphones, horns and whistles in the build up for the main rally at 11am
outside the conference on Cleveland Row, London SW1A 1DH.
